15-16 July 2017
On Saturday, July 15th, we took some Airmen to the Baton
Rouge Louisiana Temple. It was great.
We took a group of Airmen from Keesler AFB. We do this
every 3rd Saturday. It was pouring down rain so we couldn't get a great
picture.
We had a large umbrella (we were the only ones coming out of the
temple that had one). One of the couples coming out of the temple was from
California. They were just there on vacation. We traded off using the umbrella and
taking pictures of each other. When I came back to give him the umbrella I
turned to close the umbrella and doused him with all the water coming off the
umbrella. He was soaked and I was embarrassed once again. Elder Bluth, an Area
Seventy, was coming out of the temple and saw Mom's badge. He asked about our
mission and then said, "I will see your Mission President tomorrow at our
Coordinating Council meeting. On our way home we stopped at a local restaurant.
The Airmen always like to eat Cajun food because they can't leave the Air Force
Base for 28 days because they are in training. They want to stop someone that
is local. We get to get the Airmen off Base by saying attending the temple is
part of their monthly worship. One of the items we ordered was craw fish,
shrimp and oyster nachos. They were really good. We drove back home and had two
talks to prepare for the Biloxi Ward that we were giving on Sunday. Diana spoke
on our family and serving and I spoke on the restoration. On Sunday we attended
PEC with the Biloxi Ward starting at 7:30; spoke in church at 9:00 am; went to
Sunday School at 10:20; met with a member of the Stake Presidency (President
Grover, 2nd Counselor) and was called as a Counselor in the Branch Presidency;
we then attended the Ocean Springs Ward; at 1:00 pm we were at Keesler Air
Force Base for our meetings there. Diana prepared dinner for 20 and we all met
after our meetings at the Keesler AFB Chapel Fellowship Hall to have dinner
with everyone. Diana made pork tenderloins; corn on the cob; salad; French
toast; and mashed potatoes. One of the missionaries, Elder Maughn who has been
out for about a year, said this is the best meal I have had since being out on
my mission. We have a baptism tonight at 6:30 for Joe who has been taught by
the Sister Missionaries. It has been raining off and on all day.
